----- Senior Member, Technical Staff (Senior System Test Engineer)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:
You will develop software solution level test strategies and test plans based on product requirements, system functional specification documents and customer deployment scenarios for Brilliant’s products. You will perform system testing functions. You will interface with the engineering and marketing groups to generate external system releases. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You must thrive on the fast pace of an early stage startup.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and write test cases reflecting the documented test plan.
  • Execute test cases per test plan, collecting data on faults and reporting.
  • Regularly assess progress and prepare test status report for management.
  • Support the design team in debugging issues; isolate root cause of issues and partner with design team on resolution.
  • Plan regression strategy and complete automated regression scripts per test plan.
  • Participate in alpha and beta coordination/support.
  • Interface with marketing and sales to understand customer problems/requirements and provide raw material for training and documentation.
  • Review documentation material and provide input to solution design guides, etc.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION):

  • MSEE/CS with 5+ years of experience or BSEE/CS with 7+ years of hands-on relevant experience.
  • Strong networking background.
  • Must have experience in system level testing including test planning, test cases design, test execution and test automation.
  • Familiar with test case tracking tools and test management systems, like TIMS.
  • Working experience with test tools like traffic analyzers (e.g., Sniffer, Ethereal) and traffic generation tools (e.g., Smartbits, IXIA).
  • Experience with CVS, Clearcase, DDTs, Bugzilla, and test tools like Pagent, IXIA, Agilent is a plus.
  • Working knowledge in industry standard networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNTP, NTP, DHCP, SNMP, Telnet, SSH, SSL, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience on T1/E1, DS3, SONET/SDH conformance tests based on ITU, ANSI, and Bellcore standards.
  • Experience in any of TcL/Expect, Perl, Unix shell scripts and/or other scripting language is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and sound written communication skills are essential.
  • Good communication and team skills mandatory.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a lean, lightning fast-paced startup environment a must.
