President, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Brilliant Telecommunications
Dr. Barry is a telecommunications equipment provider industry veteran and is a recognized innovator in multi-service IP networking. Prior to founding Brilliant, Dr. Barry was a founder of Luminous Networks, where he was responsible for the technical direction and innovations that enabled Luminous to become an established fiber optic telecommunications equipment provider. Dr. Barry was a major contributor to the IEEE 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring technology and has authored more than 20 patents. Dr Barry also held management positions at Nuko and DEC. Dr. Barry holds a Ph.D. and a MSEE from Stanford University, and a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Susan Mason came to ONSET Ventures in 1996 after holding positions in high technology engineering, marketing and business development. Susan most recently led a successful consulting practice, helping Fortune 100 corporations capitalize on emerging markets and technologies. Early in her career, she held positions in marketing and engineering design of high-performance systems and microprocessors for Fujitsu Microelectronics, Fairchild Semiconductor and NCR Microelectronics. Susan received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado and her MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. Susan is a Kauffman Fellow and a founding board member of the Center for Venture Education.

Rich combines a deep technical background with extensive operational business experience. Over the past 20 years he has been involved with numerous start-up companies, in both management and consulting roles. Most recently, Rich co-founded Talkway Communications, a provider of internet video services such as video email to major providers including AT&T and British Telecom. Rich has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and master's and bachelor's degrees from Stanford and Rice University.

Former Chief Technology Officer, Cingular Wireless International
Mike Verstegen's was previously vice president and chief technology officer of the international division of Cingular Wireless. Mike began his telecom career in the US military, where he spent five years performing classified work in the area of telecommunications. In 1991 he joined McCaw Cellular Communications, which later became AT&T Wireless Services when it merged with AT&T in 1994. At AT&T Wireless Services, (which became Cingular Wireless in 2004) Mike became vice president of network services, where he was responsible for network and technical operations. In 1996 he joined the company’s international development and operations division as vice president and international technology officer. Mike holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the US Air Force Academy. |
